In the heart of Shantipuri Kamiya No. 3 lives a man whose age is etched in numbers but whose spirit remains timelessโMr. Lakshaman Singh Bisht. At 85 years old, with over five decades of farming wisdom, he still walks his 8 bigha farmland with the same fervor he had in his youth. Farming is not just his occupationโitโs his identity, his devotion, and his lifelong companion.
He grows sugarcane, rice, poplar, and wheat, each crop a testament to his dedication. For irrigation, he uses tubewells and borewells, and his faithful tools include a tractor, harrow, and cultivator. With the support of urea, NPK, and DAP, he achieves yields of 18โ20 quintals of wheat per acre, 25 quintals of rice, and 100 quintals of sugarcane per acre.
Yet, the return is modestโโน4,000โโน5,000 per monthโhardly reflecting the toil he endures. Fertilizer shortages, lack of advanced tools, and no access to government schemes are ongoing struggles. Awareness and accessibility remain major gaps, leaving farmers like him excluded from the support systems meant for them.
Beyond crops, he nurtures life. His small cattle shed houses two cows (Holstein and Sahiwal), two calves, and a Murrah buffalo. Each animal, like his crops, receives the same unspoken care and quiet affection.
Small farmers like Lakshaman Singh Bisht form the backbone of Indiaโs agricultural landscape. They may not own large acres or advanced machines, but their wisdom, work ethic, and emotional bond with the land are unmatched. Through Sankalp, we honour these unsung heroes whose quiet strength feeds a nation and whose every harvest truly begins with a promise. ๐ฟ

๐ Legacy of the Land: Mr. Chandra Singh, a dedicated farmer from Shantipuri Lane No. 4, has been engaged in farming for over five decades, carrying forward a multi-generational agricultural tradition.
๐ Farming as a Family Thread: Out of three family members, two are actively involved in farming. Together, they manage a substantial 26 beegha of agricultural land. He cultivates sugarcane (on 3 acres), paddy, mustard, and wheat. While mustard, paddy, and wheat cater to the familyโs household needs, sugarcane is grown as a commercial crop. This yields an average of 30 quintals per acreโa commendable output despite resource constraints. From sugarcane alone, Mr. Singh earns around โน1 lakh per season.
๐ Livestock Integration: His small cattle shed houses three buffaloes and a Sahiwal cow, contributing to the familyโs dairy needs and organic manure.
๐ซ A Shift Towards Soil Health: Earlier unaware of soil testing, Mr. Singh showed openness and interest in adopting scientific soil testing practices after learning about its importance during the discussion.
โจ Why Chandra Singh's Story Matters:
In every line of his cracked palms lies a chapter of rural Indiaโs resilience. Mr. Singh represents thousands of farmers who continue to sow hope, despite systemic gaps. His story underlines the urgent need for better scheme outreach, quality inputs, and farmer-centric reforms.

๐พ Meet ๐๐ก๐ซ๐ข ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ฒ๐๐ง ๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ก ๐๐๐ก๐ญ๐, a farmer from ๐๐๐ข๐ ๐ซ๐๐ฆ, ๐๐ก๐๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ฉ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข, who has been cultivating hope and harvest for the past 25โ30 years. On his modest 2.5 acres of land, he grows sugarcane, wheat, and rice, relying on a government tube well that costs him just โน80 for three months to keep his crops alive
๐ With rented tractors and tools, fertilizers like NPK, urea, zinc, Abhimanyu, and traditional storage methodsโdrums for wheat, neem-filled sacks for riceโhe continues farming with dedication. His efforts yield 80โ90 quintals of sugarcane, 4โ4.5 quintals of wheat, and 5 quintals of rice each season.
๐ But his story doesn't end at crops. His love for livestock has given him 2 goats, 5 cows, 8 calves, and hens, with cows producing nearly 30โ35 litres of milk daily, sold to a local dairyโadding an important source of income.
โ Challenges do exist termite infestation and lack of connection to government schemesโbut Shri Mehta's journey proves one thing : farming is more than just tilling the land; it is nurturing life itself.
โจ Farmers like him remind us that their stories are not just about agricultureโthey are about strength, hope, and inspiration for the future.

๐ฑ ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐๐ #4 :- Farming not for profit, but for survivalโher journey redefines resilience... ๐ฑ
Every grain of wheat, every stalk of paddy in her field carries a story. A story of hard work, of silent strength, and of a woman who continues to farm against all odds. This is the journey of Hema Bhatt, a farmer who reminds us that courage doesnโt always come in loud victoriesโit often lies in quiet survival ๐ช๐ป
๐ฉ๐ปโ๐พOn her 1 acre of land, she grows wheat, paddy, and poplar trees. Without a tractor of her own, she rents one when needed, relying otherwise on simple tools and fertilizers from the local cooperative society. From just half an acre, she harvests 7 quintals of wheatโall kept for her family. For Hema, farming is not about profit, but about survival.
๐ฑThe hurdles are manyโpests, poor seed experiences, and lessons from failed intercropping attempts. Yet she continues, supported by her three pahadi cows, whose milk and manure sustain both her home and her fields.
๐พHer story is not just about farming, but about resilience and quiet determination. Her journey makes us pause and reflectโin a world where farming is increasingly seen through the lens of profit and scale, what does it mean to farm only for survival, for family, and for the love of the land?
๐ Her Sankalp is her strengthโsilent, steady, and deeply rooted in the land she calls her own.๐
